The project, which provided for the overall transformation of a disused industrial building of about 15,000 square metres, built in the 1960s and 1970s in the first industrial area of Porto Marghera, made it possible, with the establishment of the new activities (the new Venice Fruit and Vegetable Market and a bar-restaurant), to give back to the city a part of the territory that industrial production had long since abandoned.
With the reconversion carried out, the western buildings of the compendium, i.e. those closest to the inhabited city, were transformed into offices, shops and a restaurant-bar.
The area of the production warehouses, on the other hand, was converted into a large covered wholesale market also open to citizens. The project also included the construction of a water platform to ensure the interchange of goods with Venice.
